Getting the last of the sugar to ferment.....

Hi I have made a good few batches of various drinks now and am very comfortable with the EZ-Caps system, but always seem to have a problem getting that last bit of sugar to completely ferment out. I am only using an OG of 1100 but don't seem to be able to get the final SG down under 1010 which gives...

Re: can i stop the alcohol process without refridgerating?

Hi I have been making cider with excellent results. I was advised by another member that cider does well in temps of around 65deg and will clear slowly but surely. Don't forget that once the yeast has completely eaten all of the sugar you put in, the fermentation will stop anyway, with a strong dry ...

Re: Sweetness

Bingo! I split the too sweet cider into two seperate bottles, added more juice, a decent amount more sugar and a little more yeast, left another week, FG is down to 1000 and the result is SPECTACULAR!!! :D :D :D :D :D :D :D The brew is refreshing, clear and has a kick as strong as a boot in the 'nad...

Re: Here are the instructions that came with the kit

I was wondering with regard to sugar and honey, has anyone tried using Golden Syrup as a sugar substitute. It has a rich smooth taste that may work well, alternatively it may be a bad idea, has anyone got any info?

Re: The Great Cider Experiment

Interesting results. I will use the 0.75 tip, although like you i will probably start off a couple at varying amounts to see what comes out best for me. I appreciate the 'Guinea-pig' approach and hope you had fun tasting them :) I will post my own results here also (when I have them) to give a secon...

Re: Sweetness

Many thanks for the reply. I am worried that the ABV is so high that the yeast cannot work on it any longer, as i obviously put too much sugar in the mix to start with. I am a bit lost for a cool dark place as i live in the south of Spain and had I such a place - I would be living in it myself :) Co...

Sweetness

Hi I followed the instructions shown here with the required quantities of various ingredients, and after 'Clarifying' (I use the term loosely as it didn't clarify) The resultant cider is so sweet as to be undrinkable. I have a hydrometer on the way from my friend in the UK so i can check the ABV rat...
