Also please note:

If the bottle is on its SIDE, then the pressure valve that usually sits on the top will now release liquid instead of air.

Re: Favorite easy recipies

I've only made a couple beers with it so far. I have trouble timing the bottling/secondary fermentation.

Is that cran-apple recipe posted on here?

Favorite easy recipies

I'm getting ready to give another class in simple wine making this December, using the standard 2 liter bottle and EZ caps.
What are some of your favorite wine recipes I can pass along to new wine makers?

Re: how to make non-carbonated beverages with EZ Caps

You can also replace the EZ cap with a balloon that has a pin hole poked into the end if you're worried about contaminates

Re: Need a straight mead recipe

I make that recipe ALL the time, it accounts for about 2/3 of the wine I make. :) The Cinnamon/clove version is great cold in the summer, and room temp/warm in the fall and winter. How does it come out? :) Most people who 'know' says a mead isnt worth a darn until it's been aged at least a year. Tha...

Re: is it ok to strain the wine through cheeses cloth...

The 'traditional' method for removing larger bits and pieces is to 'rack' the wine by siphoning off the clear stuff from the top and leaving the sediment that collects on the bottom. Chilling the w...

You can store the wine in the frig in plastics bottles indefinitely.
You can also drink it faster! :D

Re: Fermentation question, newby please help

It is probably still fermenting. Odds are it is NOT mold. Sometimes during a very active fermentation, a little juice comes out with the CO2 and can get caked up on the slit. You can very easily take the bottle over to the sink and rinse that off with hot water. Was your bottle really, really full? ...

Re: Wine is a little too sweet.

If it's sweet, not all the sugar is being fermented, so there are 3 solutions - ferment longer, so there's more time to convert sugar to alcohol - start with less sugar, so there's less left over when the yeast reaches it's full potential - some combination of the above If you want to make sure the ...
