Pitching yeast

Postby yahoo » Sun Aug 08, 2004 7:34 am

I was just curious if anyone else starts their yeast before pitching
it into their juice. I start mine off in some tepid water with a
sugar soultion for about an hour before I pitch it. It's a method i
picked up through homebrewing beer. Is it a good thing for this
type of drinkmaking or should I just throw in the yeast and let it
go. My thinking is starting it first will decrease brewing time at
least by a few hours.
